Opal got to come home today! Opal is a superstar at recovery already! She’s walking around, albeit a bit unsteadily, is slowly getting her appetite back and is super snuggly. Oh, and gassy! SO very gassy!
She has some serious bruising and is pretty swollen. Her incision site looks pretty good too, but there is some oozing that we’re keeping an eye on. Overall, she is doing great and we couldn’t be happier having her back home and on the road to recovery!
Here is a picture of her we took tonight. Her shaved bottom makes me more sad than her missing leg!
Yay Opal! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

WELCOME HOME OPAL!! You look so pretty in your photo…and just a touch drugged 🙂
Take it real easy…lots of rest. Opal may be whining and restless for a night or two, so try and get sleep when you can.
My Happy Hannah’s incision had a lot of colorful bruising. She actually developed a seroma too. Sounds like you’re doing a good job keeping an eye on things.
And yeah, I remember all too well how shocked I was at how much of Happy Hannah they shaved!! Seemed like a little too much to me!
Thanks for the update. Stay connected, okay?
Hugs to all!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
Thank you. I made a bed for her on our living room floor which is on our ground level so she doesn’t have to navigate stairs for as long as possible. She wouldn’t sleep unless I was cuddling with her, so night one consisted of laying in extremely uncomfortable positions so she could get some rest. Oh the things we do for love.
Thankfully a close friend works at the vet where her procedure was done so I’m keeping a close eye on her incision and sending her pictures as needed for advice.
WOOHOOO Opal! Those big brown eyes of yours make our hearts flip flop, we are totally in love with you.
Glad that you got such great care at the clinic. Let us know if we can send them some Tripawds info brochures OK?
